We are pleased to announce our Arrivals Support Package for international students starting this September 2021, in relation to quarantine and testing.
The Arrivals Support Package and government requirements on arrival will differ depending on which red/amber/green list student’s country/territory of departure is assigned. Please be aware that ratings may change, so please check the up to date rating of your country of departure here.

If a 10-day hotel quarantine period is required by UK Law, Uni of Glos will reimburse students £1,000 towards the costs of the approved quarantine hotel stay
Uni of Glos will reimburse PCR testing costs taken when in the UK, up to the value of £210.
Uni of Glos will provide a free transfer service from your quarantine hotel in the UK to a Uni of Glos campus (for the student only)

For students who have booked University managed accommodation, Uni of Glos will offer a free self-isolation option of up to 10 days prior to the contract start date (from 4th September) and a welcome pack (including bedding, essential supplies) will be waiting in your accommodation
For students who are in private accommodation in Cheltenham or Gloucester, Uni of Glos will provide a welcome pack, which will be delivered, the day of or day after arrival (dependent on time of arrival).

Covid-19 Update
The University is planning to deliver all courses as planned and in person for starts in September 2021 and January 2022. We continue to create a safe environment at the University and students are encouraged to take lateral flow tests at least twice weekly while on campus here in Cheltenham and Gloucester, and we continue to encourage face coverings while in crowded areas (see our latest statement here). Our accommodation guarantee for first year students has also been extended until 17th August 2021 – students can apply for a place on campus via www.glos.ac.uk/accommodation.
Applications for both phases of our 2021 International Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships (IUS/IPS) are now closed. All applicants have now been contacted regarding their scholarship applications and outcome.
Please be aware that we still have a number of International Postgraduate Scholarships (IPS) available for postgraduate taught courses starting January 2022. Applications are now open, with a deadline of 1st November 2021. See here for further information.
All other students will be eligible to receive our International Grant Award, worth £3000. This is an automatic award to offer holders with no application necessary, more detail here.
Gold Cup Award Scheme 2020/21
Have you recruited 3 or more students to the University this cycle? Do you have a valid standard agent agreement in place? If so, your agency may be applicable to receive a bonus this month. The GCA Scheme applies to intakes between September 2020 and July 2021.
Please email [email protected] with a list of students recruited this cycle, and student numbers and we will notify you of your bonus amount. Invoices must be received by 31st July 2021. Ts&Cs apply.
University of Gloucestershire wins major international award for sustainability project
The University of Gloucestershire has won a highly prestigious international award in recognition of its commitment to enabling and empowering its students to tackle pressing global issues.
It has been announced as the winner of the Next Generation Learning and Skills category (large institution) at the 2021 International Green Gown Awards for its A Rounder Sense of Purpose project, beating finalists from Finland, Malaysia, Switzerland and Brazil.
Highlighting exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by the world’s universities and colleges, the International Green Gown Awards set the bar and put every learning institution at the heart of delivering the UN Global Goals.
Coordinated by the university’s School of Education and Humanities, the A Rounder Sense of Purpose project is aimed at putting sustainability at the heart of the curriculum and has reached thousands of teachers across Europe.
Course Highlight: International Football Academy at Uni of Glos
The International Football Academy, in partnership with University Degrees Abroad (UDA), launches this September at the University’s Oxstall Campus, in Gloucester. Students will benefit from access to a new integrated sports park, with FIFA-approved 3G facilities and an International indoor arena.
The Academy will provide student athletes with access to internationally recognised university degree programmes, a developmental football experience and opportunity for multiple pathways into football within a fully integrated university experience.
Designed to match top-level European development academies, it offers the opportunity to be trained by professional, UEFA ‘A; licensed coaches and exposure to professional visiting coaches from the English leagues. In addition, students will benefit from coaching and referee licensing courses through UniSport’s connection to the Football Association (FA).
Dr Kiara Lewis, Head of the School of Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Gloucestershire said: “This new international football academy offers an incredible opportunity for scholars to become immersed in the sport, not only sharpening their skills on the pitch but gaining qualifications in coaching and officiating.
