University Of The Week – Coventry University

Founded as the Coventry College of Design in 1843 and gaining its University status in 1992, the Coventry University can be called one of the oldies of UK but it is fresh too. One campus in Coventry and another was opened in London, to attract international students looking to study abroad in UK. There are about 27,000 students in the Coventry University, of which about 5,000 are international students.

There is a mix of old and new buildings built for the purpose of housing faculties. The Hub, housing the university’s student union, is an award-winning building; not surprisingly, it is the center-piece that holds student support services, a bar, nightclub and a food hall. The University’s library was opened by Princess Anne where very catchy exterior encompasses the interiors, which have many awards of designing. The reading and audio-visual material housed in the library is truly diversified. The Coventry University Group undertakes charitable activities, wholly sponsored by the college, making the University an exempt charity.

Coventry offers more than 130 undergrad and 100 post-grad degrees through its four faculties. There are also foundation degrees and Higher National Diplomas.
