​ Latest Update in Financial Requirements for Living Expenses in the UK 2027

As per the Economic Times, the amount officially required as proof of funds to live in the country is going to increase from Nov 30, 2026 onwards. According to the British Council and Gov.uk, the current amount required as proof of funds towards your living costs in the UK is GBP 1,529 per month for courses in London and GBP 1,171 per month for courses elsewhere in UK.

However, as per the latest update, the new financial requirement for the UK student visa will be GBP 1,570 for courses in London and GBP 1,203 for courses outside London in the UK. This difference comes out to be INR 5233.47 for London and INR 4084.66 outside London for Indian students.

This concludes that from Nov 31, 2026 onwards, Indian students will be required to present approximately INR 2,00,403.59 per month as proof of funds for living in London and INR 1,53,557.66 per month as proof of funds required to live elsewhere in the UK. Students are required to show that they have this amount of money to survive at least 9 months in the UK (meaning funds required for each month × 9 times).

Note: All UK student visa applications submitted after Nov 30, 2026 will require this amount as proof of funds.
