About Cranfield University:
Founded in 1946 as a College of Aeronautics, Cranfield University is a British Postgraduate and a research based public university. The College of Aeronautics renamed as the Cranfield Institute of Technology, in 1969 was incorporated by Royal Charter, it also gained degree awarding powers, and became a university. The University adopted its current name in 1993. The University has 2 campuses, one in Cranfield, Bedfordshire; which is the main campus and the second one is at Defence Academy of United Kingdom at Shrivenham southwest Oxfordshire. The main campus in the Uk is unique as it has its own semi functional airport called the Cranfield airport. It also has its own aircraft which is used for teaching and research purposes. In 2007, the University’s first international campus was opend alongside the Carneige Mellon University, which offered short term post graduate courses in tehnolog and defense management.

The University is approximately 80Km north to Central London. The nearest largest towns are Beford and Milton Keynes. Cranfield University Campus facilities include a sports center which includes playing fields, sports pitches several tennis courts, a fitness center and an aerobics studio. The students and staff also have an access to a wide range of cafes, shops, restaurants and bars. The student union called the Cranfield Student Association, runs the main student bar, café and restaurant on the main main campus. Cranfield offers a wide range of accommodation options such as the Halls of Residence, shared rooms, and houses for families and also apartments for couples. The students can choose to reside on campus or off campus as per their convenience. The university has strong ties with the governments, industry and business.
