On 24th January, Study Smart successfully conducted a Study Abroad Seminar on “Higher Education & Career Opportunities Abroad” in Kolhapur, bringing together students, parents, and experienced counsellors for an afternoon of honest, practical guidance. The seminar saw participation from 100+ students, primarily from final-year undergraduate and postgraduate backgrounds, all exploring international education as their next academic step.

Unlike typical information sessions, this seminar was designed to address the real questions students carry — not just about going abroad, but about choosing the right course, country, and long-term direction.

A Seminar Focused on Clarity, Not Assumptions

The session was led by Chetan Jain, Managing Director of Study Smart, who brought his 18+ years of experience in overseas education into the room through open discussions and real-life examples. Rather than presenting fixed paths, the seminar focused on helping students understand how global education decisions should align with individual strengths, interests, and career goals.

Students actively participated throughout the session, asking questions around:

  • How to shortlist countries based on career outcomes
  • Whether rankings matter more than course relevance
  • How to avoid rushed decisions driven by peer pressure
  • What universities actually look for during admissions

The interactive nature of the seminar ensured that students didn’t just listen — they reflected, questioned, and clarified their own plans.

Honest Conversations Around Admissions, Exams, and Visas

A key part of the seminar covered admissions processes, scholarships, IELTS requirements, and student visas. Instead of overwhelming students with timelines and checklists, the discussion focused on when to start planning and why early clarity matters.

Many students shared that they were unsure whether they were “late” or “early” in the process. These concerns were addressed directly, helping students understand realistic planning windows for different destinations and courses.

The seminar also highlighted common mistakes students make — such as choosing a country before a course, relying only on rankings, or applying without understanding employability outcomes.

One-on-One Counselling That Made the Difference

Following the seminar, students were offered FREE 1:1 counselling sessions with Study Smart’s certified study abroad counsellors. These personalised interactions allowed students to discuss their academic background, career interests, budget considerations, and next steps in detail.

Parents who attended the seminar appreciated the opportunity to ask questions around safety, finances, and long-term outcomes — turning the session into a shared decision-making experience rather than a student-only conversation.
For many attendees, this counselling session became the first structured step toward planning their study abroad journey with confidence.

Strong Engagement and Positive Response

The response from students and parents in Kolhapur was encouraging. Several attendees expressed that the seminar helped them move past confusion and gain clarity on what they should focus on next — whether that meant exploring more options, preparing for exams, or rethinking their initial choices.
By the end of the day, the seminar had achieved its purpose: replacing uncertainty with informed thinking.

Study Smart’s Ongoing Commitment

The Kolhapur seminar reinforced Study Smart’s belief that study abroad decisions should never be rushed or driven by trends. Through initiatives like these, Study Smart continues to engage with students across cities, offering guidance that is honest, structured, and centred on long-term success.

With strong participation and meaningful discussions, the Kolhapur seminar stood as a reminder that the right guidance, at the right time, can shape better academic and career outcomes.
